I wished I’d gotten a better shot of the Luffa plant, but it’s pretty apparent that it’s grown a great deal more just look at those two gourds… They are huge. I’m thrilled to have gotten those. I also love the look of the plant so next year I’m going to plant a few more to see if I get them to grow over a trellis arch

I also discovered that I have 4 cantalope melons

The strawberries are thriving, I’m going to transplant a few of them down to the CC garden plot for next year.

I didn’t get too many of these tomatoes, but they were huge.

I did get a lot of bell peppers, especially the mini ones.

We did finally get a bit of rain in August, but it really wasn’t enough to make a difference. However, the later part of Sept gave us a LOT of rain. Close to 7 inches in places. The plants were happier, but the temperatures are still too high for this time of the year. I had to travel for work to NC at the end of the month, when I got back all the corn was dead, but the green beans were starting to produce, just not like they did last year.

I propped the beans up so I could find the ones ready to pick. It’s been a few handfuls for a few weeks, works for just one person’s meal.
The Community Garden plots are doing alright, it’s been too hot for those too.
The north plot:
The onions are starting to bulb up, which is great. I had no idea how long it take them to grow. The eggplants are doing better than the peppers, I’m at least getting things to eat off them, even if they are on the small side. Again, this is working out for me, it gives me a meal with occasional leftovers for lunch. The three fennel plants are flowering, I decided to leave them for the pollinators, I’ll collect the seeds in the fall.

The south plot:

The broccoli and cauliflower in this one is doing the same thing as the ones at the house, they haven’t bolted nor have they developed any flowers. I’m hoping the will once it cools down some. The tomatillos are really starting to grown and develop flowers.. yippie. I did lose 4 of the tomato plants down here and the pepper plants have been really sad and not generating anything. I’m just going to leave them unless they are dead until the freeze with the hope that they will do something….
We FINALLY started to get some rain!!!!!
The sunflowers were done when I got back from NC so I cut them down and have started to plant some more perennials in the flower bed for next year. I also redid the polymeric sand around the flagstone. It worked out better this time around. I think I’ve also finally gotten rid of the ants that were at the base of the umbrella. It’s been awhile since I got bit while opening or closing it.
