SMRI Race #3<\/p>\n
This was only one of two scheduled combo weekends for the club, track day on Saturday and racing on Sunday.\u00a0 Having to work registration both days\u2019 kinda puts a damper on my excitement for the weekends.\u00a0 It\u2019s a lot of work to get myself ready to race and to do all the office duties before I get to hit the track.\u00a0 I was really lacking motivation for the races.<\/p>\n
There was only a few note worthy things about this race weekend.\u00a0 The weather was nearly perfect, by that I mean there was only wind at the end of the day and it wasn\u2019t enough to blow you off the track, or stand you up mid corner.\u00a0 I actually had good starts for all four of my races.\u00a0 I might actually be figuring this out, shame it\u2019s taken 3 years.\u00a0 I guess I\u2019ll start with the last race just to mix it up.<\/p>\n
4th<\/sup> race of the day was Formula Femme; I was actually bummed with this one.\u00a0 Not because of how I rode or the finish\u2026 I won it.\u00a0 But, because Edda had gotten hurt a couple of races before this one and she wasn\u2019t in good shape.\u00a0 It just put a black cloud over the race, since she should have been out there with us and she should have won it.\u00a0 Now this race actually taught me about defensive lines and just how hard it is to pass someone who runs them.\u00a0 I was behind Dennis for all the but last lap and I was working at getting around him the whole time.\u00a0 I made a few mistakes so that kept me from passing him a few times.\u00a0 In all it was an awesome lesson.<\/p>\n Nov GTU wasn\u2019t nearly as exciting as it could have been.\u00a0 I got a great start and that was the high point of the race.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t keep Donny behind me for more then a lap and then I just couldn\u2019t get myself to go.\u00a0 For the first time I put a new tire on right before the race and didn\u2019t scrub it in except on the warm up lap, I know that it messed with my head a little bit.\u00a0 It shouldn\u2019t have, but I kept wondering if it was going to slip or spin up on me at some point.<\/p>\n Am GTU was the most boring race of the day for me.\u00a0 Travis and Xen checked out and I just cruised around all by myself fast enough to keep the rest behind me.<\/p>\n Am SuperTwins was my first race of the day, I like this class since it is the biggest gridded race of the day.\u00a0 I got to start from the front row and I had a good start.\u00a0 I got passed the three that got off the line better then me, but then lost two spots.\u00a0 About the second lap I had Hannes go by me and then he and I had the best battle so far this year.\u00a0 I got around him in the hair pin he got around me in the next turn.\u00a0 I tried to sneak up the inside of 6 and he slammed the door on me.\u00a0\u00a0 I got by him again coming into the hairpin and he out powered me out of it.\u00a0 We repeated that for most of the remaining laps until I go hung up on a lapped rider.\u00a0 It was a blast.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" SMRI Race #3 This was only one of two scheduled combo weekends for the club, track day on Saturday and […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-518","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/518","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=518"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/518\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":678,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/518\/revisions\/678"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=518"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=518"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=518"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
