class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wished I\u2019d gotten a better shot of the Luffa plant, but it\u2019s pretty apparent that it\u2019s grown a great deal more just look at those two gourds\u2026&nbsp; They are huge.&nbsp; I\u2019m thrilled to have gotten those.&nbsp; I also love the look of the plant so next year I\u2019m going to plant a few more to see if I get them to grow over a trellis difference.\u00a0 However, the later part of Sept gave us a LOT of rain.  Close to 7 inches in places.  The plants were happier, but the temperatures are still too high for this time of the year. I had to travel for work to NC at the end of the month, when I got back all the corn was dead, but the green beans were starting to produce, just not like they did last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-17.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"617\" height=\"794\" src=\"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-17.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3870\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.7770780856423174;width:617px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-17.png 617w, https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-17-233x300.png 233w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 617px) 100vw, 617px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I propped the beans up so I could find the ones ready to pick.&nbsp; It\u2019s been a few handfuls for a few weeks, works for just one person\u2019s meal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Community Garden plots are doing alright, it\u2019s been too hot for those too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The north plot:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The onions are starting to bulb up, which is great.&nbsp; I had no idea how long it take them to grow.&nbsp; The eggplants are doing better than the peppers, I\u2019m at least getting things to eat off them, even if they are on the small side.&nbsp; Again, this is working out for me, it gives me a meal with occasional leftovers for lunch.&nbsp; The three fennel plants are flowering, I decided to leave them for the pollinators, I\u2019ll collect the seeds in the fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-20.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"590\" height=\"856\" src=\"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-20.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3873\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.6892523364485982;width:590px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-20.png 590w, https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-20-207x300.png 207w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The south plot:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-19.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"596\" height=\"816\" src=\"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-19.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3872\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.7303921568627451;width:596px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-19.png 596w, https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-19-219x300.png 219w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The broccoli and cauliflower in this one is doing the same thing as the ones at the house, they haven\u2019t bolted nor have they developed any flowers.&nbsp; I\u2019m hoping the will once it cools down some.&nbsp; The tomatillos are really starting to grown and develop flowers.. yippie.&nbsp; I did lose 4 of the tomato plants down here and the pepper plants have been really sad and not generating anything.&nbsp; I\u2019m just going to leave them unless they are dead until the freeze with the hope that they will do something\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We FINALLY started to get some rain!!!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sunflowers were done when I got back from NC so I cut them down and have started to plant some more perennials in the flower bed for next year. &nbsp;&nbsp;I also redid the polymeric sand around the flagstone.&nbsp; It worked out better this time around.&nbsp; I think I\u2019ve also finally gotten rid of the ants that were at the base of the umbrella.
