As you can see in the picture the worms have been hard at work. I’m still adjusting my lifestyle to make sure I add as much as I can to this instead of placing it into the trash. It is more a feast and famine cycle for worms. I have LOADS to add to it or I have nothing. I have NO idea what seeds are sprouting in there. My best guess is bell pepper and squash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m sure it is because I’m single and not cooking food on as regular a basis as a family would. I also try to mean prep, so I generally only have things to add once a week, and sometimes only once every few weeks, if I’m traveling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the look of the image, I was a couple weeks out from the last feeding. I am still fascinated by these creatures I have to dig around in the bag when feeding them. I call it fluffing the bedding. It seems like they are doing really well. The numbers don’t seem to have dropped any and I keep finding loads of them around food pockets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t have any idea why I enjoy seeing the worms in clusters around the food, why I\u2019m obsessed with finding a cocoon in the bin, or why in general they give me a warm fuzzy feeling.  I\u2019m also just giddy at the idea of making my own worm tea for the garden next summer\u2026   It\u2019s just weird. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They all appear healthy and there are lots of different sizes, so they are breeding. It’s a great sign that I’m doing things alright by them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ll be doing my first harvest after January. I want to use the castings for the seeds I’ll be starting. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
