The first weekend back to the race track is always an exciting one, even if I\u2019m not going to be on a bike. As usual it was eventful in a number of ways. I managed to arrive at the track during a Haboob. I have been a few, they are just miserable. Dirt gets into places you didn\u2019t think it was possible. I was on a time line, so I couldn\u2019t just wait it out. I had to unhitch the trailer and get over to Rio Rancho were I was going to be giving a couple of dirt riding lessons. Thanks to that dust storm, I was late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I spent a couple of hours going over dirt basics for Cindy and her daughter. They are brand new riders that completed a BRC recently and bought a CRF230 that was street legal. I\u2019m really glad that dust storm didn\u2019t head that direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I got back to the track, a number of people had started to show up. It was great to see some new faces, along with the ones I have grown used to seeing at the track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I had purposely left my riding gear at home. I knew that with it being the first weekend that there would be a number of things needing attention. I figured it would be best if at least one of the board members wasn\u2019t out on the track. From the amount of running around I did on both days, I\u2019ll say it was a good call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The track day on Sat, was one of the largest we\u2019ve seen. I was really pleased to see that. However, there were far more crashes in the beginner session than I would have liked to see. There is going to be a few changes to hopefully lower that for the next track day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Poor lil\u2019 Sable was exhausted by mid-day, normally when I leave the trailer she\u2019s right there ready to go. By 2pm she was over it and wanted a nap. She had stayed on the bench seat; she didn\u2019t even pick up her head when I asked if she was coming with me. Lol. Of course, after a couple hour nap she was ready to start all over with patrolling the pits to make sure it was safe for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sunday\u2019s races went very smoothly, there were a few things that need to be smoothed out for the next round. Overall, I was thrilled that we didn\u2019t have to roll the ambulance. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
