{"id":1256,"date":"2014-05-28T21:50:05","date_gmt":"2014-05-28T21:50:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/?p=1256"},"modified":"2015-06-01T18:32:39","modified_gmt":"2015-06-01T18:32:39","slug":"well-that-killed-my-plans-for-the-next-few-weekends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/2014\/05\/28\/well-that-killed-my-plans-for-the-next-few-weekends\/","title":{"rendered":"Well, that killed my plans for the next few weekends."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was lucky enough to have people pitted around me with campers, this gave me access to ice packs. \u00a0I was even more thankful for being give a spot in a camper to sleep that night instead of in my trailer. \u00a0About 12am my wrist woke me up and I discovered that I couldn&#8217;t feel my fingers. \u00a0 I was pretty sure it was due to the swell that was now really obvious. \u00a0So I got up and pulled out one of the ice packs. \u00a0After about 10 minutes, the feeling started to return to my fingers. \u00a0This pretty much set the tone for the rest the of night. \u00a0Every 2 hours getting up to ice my wrist. \u00a0So much for sleep, it&#8217;s over rated anyway. \u00a0Come 6am I gave up and went for a shower.<\/p>\n<p>Then it was to the task of setting up for the day, taking care of registration again for the day, finishing grids and then trying to fit in a practice session on both bikes to see if I was able to ride. \u00a0I quickly discovered that it was about the same, and I&#8217;d lose the feeling in my hand by the third lap. \u00a0I am amazingly stubborn and prove to bad judgement, so I decided to scratch out of 5 races and only do one class with each bike. \u00a0The 250SS and Fourmula Femme, I&#8217;ve gotta defend my title there. \u00a0If I can win it again this year it would make 5 years in a row! \u00a0That&#8217;s worth trying for.<\/p>\n<p>I got a great start in the 250 class, then I slowly drifted off the pace and back as I lost the ability to use my left hand as I needed to. \u00a0Oh well. \u00a0I was still a lot of fun and I wasn&#8217;t last.<\/p>\n<p>The FF race I had planned on just leaving the bike in 3rd gear, and see how it went. \u00a0But, once Tracy got in front of me I just couldn&#8217;t stand it. \u00a0I had to pass him back and keep him there. \u00a0By the end of the race, my hand still had some feeling, in it so it was better then it was in practice. \u00a0I&#8217;ll take it as a good sign.<\/p>\n<p>Packing up up at the end of the day was interesting.<\/p>\n<p>I did head in to see my Doc toward the end of the day on Monday, the Xray showed two hairline fractures in my wrist, nothing that was bad enough to justify a cast. \u00a0He said, just to take it easy and use the brace that I had on if it helped. \u00a0I decided to be good and let the wrist have time off, so no riding into work, no dirt bike riding over the holiday wknd. \u00a0No riding over to AZ to ride hwy 191, and no Sipau shindig the last wknd of May. \u00a0I was just hoping that it healed up enough to go riding in Alaska in June with my BFF from high school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was lucky enough to have people pitted around me with campers, this gave me access to ice packs. \u00a0I [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1256","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-racing","category-two-wheels"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1256","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1256"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1256\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1259,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1256\/revisions\/1259"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1256"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1256"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/diomederacing.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1256"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
