So racing on the 21st wasn’t enough for the month, about 10 of us decided to take a birthday trip.\u00a0 The original plan was to go back up to Silverton and ride the passes again, but it snowed up there over the weekend.\u00a0 So we decided to stay toward the south, kind of.<\/p>\n

The final destination ended up being Goosenecks State Park in Uath.\u00a0 I wasn’t too sure about the idea until I saw a few pictures, you get the idea…<\/p>\n

I left Thursday afternoon, about 2pm it’s a 5.5 hour drive from Santa Fe.\u00a0 I figured I’d be there just about sunset.\u00a0 I ended up with a nasty head wind so I got there after dark.\u00a0 I couldn’t find the group and was really confused until someone showed up on a dirt bike.\u00a0 I was very happy to see GSDave.\u00a0 Since I’d tried to figure out where they were but couldn’t see in the dark well enough to brave it with the trailer.\u00a0 From the looks of GS, they were already having a very good time and I’m glad they remembered me…\u00a0 I followed him down this winding trail I could see the cliff off to the right and I was a lil’ worried until I saw the other three rigs.<\/p>\n

Turns out that GS had broken his bike earlier that day and he was trying to forget how upset he was. The sleeping GS.<\/p>\n

It was going to take a lot to wake this GS up as the swingarm lower shock mount had all it could take and wasn’t going to go any further.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

However GS “MacGyver” figured out a trail side repair to get back to camp…<\/p>\n

GS was left to ponder the question of WTF happened???<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This was our driveway during the stay….<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Moki Dugway was a blast!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

A different view of the campsite…\u00a0 Not sure just why we picked it.\u00a0 Really not much to look at.

The morning routine, wake up, BS, plan out a route for the day and have breakfast.\u00a0 It was rough.
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

We really did get some riding in…\u00a0 Here’s the Motely crew taking a break on the 4×4 only trail we found.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The day wouldn’t have been complete without some minor drama.\u00a0 Heather fell over at the bottom of one of the dips and her chain popped off.\u00a0 At least she landed on top of the bike instead of stuck under it this time.<\/p>\n

Everyone springs to action, it was more a matter of finding the right tool then getting it done.<\/p>\n

We found this great scenic spot and had a break.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Then about half the group decided they had done enough sand for the day and a couple were low and on water so they split off and went back to camp.\u00a0 While 4 of us decided to do another 100 miles.<\/p>\n

The rest of the day was just more great\u00a0 scenery and riding until the KTM needed some attention.\u00a0 Steve ran out of gas, so we drained some from my bike.<\/p>\n
