More changes to the yard, I used the weekend to move just about all the pots I had scattered over the yard to the plain gravel pad that was next to the garage. I also added some visqueen to the elevated bed to warm up the soil so I could plant some seeds there this week. It does make a difference, I could feel how warm it was on this afternoon. I got the seeds planted on Monday after work.

I moved all those pots since I’m planning on setting up some drip irrigation for them this year. It’s easier to have all of them consolidated into a single area. I decided to leave all the pots by the entryways, as they are easy enough to care for. I may run irrigation to those too once I figure out just how much I can put in. I need to some flow testing; measure out all the areas I’m thinking of putting on the irrigation. I can split the yard into two sections. The garage area will be on its own section. I’m still researching the types of emitters that I want to use. I already know it’s going to be a mix of emitters and drip tape. I still have enough room on the back part to up in a couple of raised beds or a small greenhouse. I’m still pondering on that one. It’s going to depend on how many time all these pots get driven over. All but the two blk/tan ones are actually cheapish plastic, so they are good for this test.
I was quite surprised at seeing all kinds of little green sprouts in many of those pots. There are two that the plants didn’t really die off over the winter. I still have some room between the elevated bed and the water barrel to put another small, raised bed, maybe a 2×3 one.

I haven’t heard anything from the neighbors about the change. I suspect that one of the two will really like it and the other will think it was a waste of time or be put out by it in some fashion, since in 20+ years I’ve never heard her say anything pleasant. Next up is changing up the gutter down spout so that I can have the barrel up on bricks. I have another rain chain that I’ll be using instead.
I gave in and ordered a citrus bush. I really excited about it. Meyer Lemon/Limequat… It will arrive on Valentines Day. Pretty perfect. The idea of having those basically on demand it too cool. It’ll have to come inside for the winter, but the rest of the year it’ll be fine outside next to the porch. I’ll get to spend the day planting it and the blueberry bush I picked up from TSC.

I really do hope that this plum tree does better this summer. I’d hate to have to have it removed.

With all those pots moved out of the yard, it’s looking kind of plain. I think I’ll leave it for a few months and see. If the flower bed grows up like it did, I won’t notice it so much in the summer.
I’m not sure yet if I’m going to like that potting bench in it’s new location, but for now it seems to be working.

I’m think of a couple of raised beds along this wall next to that bench and maybe next to the house too.
