I really did have big plans for the year, it just didn’t work out the way I wanted it. I am aware this is really the norm, but it did mean that somethings had to change.
I’ve spent the past 12 months learning to do my new job. Still learning too. They are a great group with only a few ongoing issues which are getting sorted. Becoming the Supervisor for the dept ended up taking about as much of my time as I feared that it would.
However, what I wasn’t prepared for feeling so drained at the end of the day. That made it hard to get things done after work like I used to do. Riding after work was totally out, I just didn’t have it in me.
I’m pretty much on call for all the operation hours of the dept. I rarely get days off where I’m not checking into work or doing something on the computer for work. So much so, I’ve been looking into getting Starlink so I can still do events and not have to drive to find signal or bum access off a few of those I ride with who do have it.
Lack of energy and honestly a lack of interest has lead to me giving up coaching the MSF classes as of Oct 2024. I have still taken on students to work with pretty regularly, but it not as often as past years. I’m hoping to change that a bit for 2025.
Highlights of 2024: There are not too many…. but
I manage to make it to ALL of the NMTA events for the year. I set an event in Apr and I score every event for the year. Did not make it into the top 3 though.
I also didn’t get nearly the riding in that I would have liked to do. No Webe or Race Collective events.
On the other hand, my house and yard are looking great!!! I put A LOT of time into my home. The yard is now some place that I love spending time in. The house is getting some of the changes I’ve always wanted to make. I’ve started with the small things, like new sink and faucet in the kitchen, putting a light over the kitchen sink, replacing the microwave, and broken dishwasher, replacing the fan and light in the great room, rearranging things to make it more functional.
Housekeeping is a bit hit or miss though.
I spent loads of money getting the stucco taken care of, trim painted and the garden/planters spruced up. I changed up seating outside, added more planters, added more pots with flowers, added a new seating area where the hot tub was, with a fire pit, strung up lights, added a few features to the outside for interest and looks. It really come a long way
Got rid of the hot tub. I really do miss it. So much so, that I’m going to bump the bathroom remodel up a few years so I can have my soaking tub.
