It’s looking like that 1-point day in Roswell wasn’t a fluke. I have to say I was pretty thrilled with it. I didn’t take any pictures the whole weekend. I’ll have to steal some of Geneva’s pictures. Okay, not quite true I took one picture, of the scoreboard. Can you blame me for that? I’m really glad Geneva takes such great photos.
I only got a 7 at this round! 3 of those points was because I almost rode through the wrong gate! I saved it but had to take a 3 for the section in order to bounce my bike back onto the correct path of travel. I could have had a ride off with Jim for first if I paid attention to what I was doing. Drat! Not bad considering I hadn’t been on the bike since Roswell. It’s looking like I’ll show up for December’s event not having ridden since Nov!!!
I showed up pretty early on Sat. I just couldn’t get it together to head down there on Friday, had to stay at work way to long. I need to make sure I take a shovel with me. I think it would be easier to dig the trailer level instead of the blocks. I also need to do some more work on the trailer. I ended up with a flat tire a couple of weekends later. I’ll bet it was all the issues I had trying to get the stupid thing parked and level. At least it was fully winterized for the Nov event. I don’t really mind dry camping as long as I have heat. Wonder what the Dec weather will be like?
It was good to ride around to find all the sections, I walked all them. By the time I was back to the trailer Geneva had showed up. So back out to ride the loop and walk the sections again.
I’m very happy that I didn’t take part in the whisky that was being passed around on Saturday evening. There were a few riders looking not so well on Sunday morning, they were thankful for the extra hour we got during the time switch that night.
I did get Geneva and I lost on the way out to the section we scored in the afternoon. That meant riding up and down some things that neither of us was happy about. I am really horrible about getting lost at these events. I can’t tell if it’s the bad directions I get from people or me. Okay. It’s likely it’s me. I just don’t know all the areas out there yet. Geneva had an interesting time with the ride over. She did better on it than I did. The first time I rode it I smack my left elbow so hard that it was sore for three weeks. She just had to hold the bike until I could get the front wheel lined up in the correct direction.
We had a great section for scoring, it looked horrible, but rode really nicely once everyone got past their brains screaming NO at them. Lol. I really should have had my phone for that one.
I really need to get things around the house settled down, so I can find the time to ride a bit more. I’ve ignored things around the house for too long and now I really can’t put things off anymore. Maintenance, it’s not just for the bikes. I am really loving the new sink and faucet. Water leaks are motivating for changes to be done. I can’t get over how much bigger the new one looks compared to the old one.
