As the schedule for this year worked out we have a number of stand alone events, and the track days weren’t always close to race days.  So this is the one we had before our July race day.  I’m not really a fan of this type of split, but since I had 4 more students for the race school, it worked out really nicely for me.

I pretty much spent the entire day chasing students around the track.  As usual it was fun, but it’s also really tiring to go around the track at less than race pace trying to hold really good body position all the time.  It’s so much easier when you can go at your usual pace.  I did get two fast sessions in it was nice to be able to get out there and see if I could carry enough corner speed to drag knee.

It was the first day since my wreck last year that I was able to be comfortable while carrying enough pace to get my knee consistently on the ground in my favorite corners. All I could keep thinking was, that it was about time.  My neck wasn’t sore for the very first time too.  It was a really great feeling.   For the first time this year, I was really looking forward to the races, with the hopes I’d be able to do more than just be a rolling chicane.
