Sable hadn’t been feeling really well.  From the picture it’s clear she isn’t feeling like herself.

She is usually such a happy and busy little dog.

I had assumed that she ate something she shouldn’t have, but would be fine after a day or so.  She wasn’t.  She got worse as the days pasted.

I took her to the vet on Monday after the trials event.  She was a quite a sick lil girl.  They kept her in the clinic for three days.  She ended up with an abdominal ultrasound and a liver biopsy.  She had off the chart liver enzymes, pancreatitis, and vomiting.

A walk when I visited her at the hospital. She still wasn’t feeling very good.

After a couple of days, the enzymes came down but not really enough.  It took over a week and they still weren’t quite back to normal.    The vet wasn’t too hopeful for a full recovery.

Her first day home from the vet hospital. Still not feeling good.

I worked from home so I could watch her. She really was a sad lil thing.

I’m happy to say that after 3 weeks, she was back to her normal self.  I was really worried that our Death Valley trip might be her last.  She got better every day on the trip.

With Sable feeling better, I was ready to hit the road.

Feeling much better… but busting licking a towel
