This was a brand new location for the NMTA, the only down side to it was they didn’t want us to have any dogs. So I got some friends to take Sable for the weekend.
The lower loop for both days was 4.2 miles long, there were 8 sections we rode 3x, so yes. We rode the loop 3x. Not easy to do on a Trials bike, they just aren’t able to move along as fast as we needed to go.
The first day, I almost didn’t get finish last loop. I had just come in from the second loop. I gassed up the bike, ate a honey stinger, since I was feeling light headed and nauseous. I made it to the first section. The TM (Trials Master, the one who set the sections and the loop) Jess was there she was closing down the sections. I commented that there was no way I was going to finish in the 15 minutes. She told me to make sure I stayed in front of her…. Challenge accepted! At the rider’s meeting in the morning they told us to take it easy, on the loop, keep the speeds down. I FLEEEW between the sections on that loop. That poor bike was bottoming out every time I hit something that was even close to a jump, or wheelie bump. There was one switch back I wasn’t sure I was going to make as it snuck up on me, I really wasn’t ready (slow enough) for the turn…. I just made it. I didn’t do so well on the last loop in my sections, but it was better than a DNF. Jess was right behind me the whole way. We both loved it.
Needless, to say I didn’t take many pictures, except when I was scoring the upper sections.
Sunday was an all around better day for me. I wasn’t the last one to finish the loops. I managed to ride each section better, and my score card wasn’t as embarrassing as usual. lol. It if hadn’t been for a couple of “blonde” moments, I would have podiumed again. oh well..
I missed having my buddy with me for the wknd. I am told she had a great time playing in the grass in the park across the street.
