After SLC I finally got to get some rides in on the new Beta Xtrainer. Geneva came up to Santa Fe so we could get in some single track time. It has been awhile since she and I rode together. We had a great time out at the Santa Fe OHV Ranch, aka Buckman. We found a few other riders out there. Dirt bikes are such a small world, turns out that we knew or had mutual friends with the one we ran into out there. It was busier than I’ve seen in some time.
I talked her into trying out trials bikes that day. So the next day she borrowed a bike from Mica to try out. I think she is hooked! It helped that Molly dog could go with her to do this. She was very good about staying with the bikes too.
Now the next weekend I was supposed to go out to Moab to ride with Deb, Jim and David. That didn’t happen as I needed to head up to Bellingham to help out family that week. So since I had the days off, I already had too many hours for the week. I just did some rides close to home. Friday I went out to hit Cedro for the first time in over a year with Jason. Figured it would be great to try out the XTrainer on forest trails since I did desert the weekend before.
Needless to say, I don’t do as well on the forest single track as I do in the open desert.
In spite of the picture above, I had a great time. I rode trails I had never done before. I did manage to bend my clutch lever just before we finished for the day so badly that I couldn’t reach it. Jason could so he rode it out the last few miles to the trucks.
After loading up, I figured since it was Friday, I would swing by the dealership to see if they had new levers for the bike. I had more rides planned for the weekend. I was happy to hear they had replacement levers in stock. They even put them on the bike for me, bonus!
I spent the next couple of days working from home and getting ready to go to Washington. I did schedule a ride for Monday, though. Talked Curtis and Mark into some single track out at Buckman.
It was a great day the traction was good, the temps perfect, but I still can’t figure out how I got slammed so hard when I was on level ground. It took me a few minutes to figure out if had gotten hurt or not, Then a few more before I could get back on the bike. I’m very thankful that Curtis got the bike off me so quickly, I would have liked it better if he’d had seen it so I would know what the h*ll happened. I cut the ride I had planned for the day down a fair bit after that. I was a hurtin’ girl and didn’t think I had 3 more hours in me at that point.
Seems like they had a good time. I left both ride my beta at the end just to see what it felt like. Mark and I really hope that Joanne likes it.
