I got back from the Tiger Troop Ride In, just in time for the first of the month craziness to hit work. Then was the fourth of July. I got a great seat for the fireworks.
I also did a kayaking class a couple of weeks later. Great class, it definitely did help my paddling tech and I learned what I really need to work on. I also feel like I’d be okay now doing some sections of the Rio Grande.
That was pretty much the end to most my fun for the month. We had some system issues at work, I ended up working all kinds of extra hours to get things back to working right. I did love that paycheck, but I don’t want to work that many hours again anytime soon.
I did get to go check out of work for a bit to see some friends who came through town. It was nice to see Chris and Loranne, along with others from los alamos I hadn’t see for sometime. I also got to spend time with Kate while she was in town. She brought her grandson so he could spend some time with the boys on dirt bikes. I loaned them the TW for him to ride. I wish that I’d had time more time to spend with them all, but I ended up working every day they all were here.
I did get out for a dirt bike ride, I want so see how much different the clutch was on the husky after Mike had a go at it my last day in SLC. After my stall and face plant, along with him stalling a number of times loading it for me. He decided that it was just too messed up and he wanted to see why. He did find that it was hanging up on the inner basket do to some very sharp edges on the steels. He cleaned them up to that it should work better. I could tell right away that my friction zone went from 2mm to about 2cm. Huge improvement. I still decided to put a rekluse in the bike after my issues in UT. I should have done it years ago. I can’t wait to see how much of a difference it makes.
I will say that the 32 miles I rode that day showed me that the clutch was and still is a good portion of the issues I have with single track. There was some spots I struggle with that were so much easier with the fix to the bike. I manged to only stall the bike one time, and I didn’t have a single tip over. It was really nice seeing another bike the whole day.
