Now I have to say that going riding on the dirt bikes right before heading to the track wasn’t the brightest idea I’ve had in awhile. On the other hand bad decisions make for great stories. I think that pretty much sums up why I’ve had an interesting life. 🙂
I was so bruised and sore after riding in CO, I wasn’t sure that I could race on Sunday. It was majorly painful to do the schools on Saturday. Bad, call on my part. I had to find some more riders to help out since I was having a hard time moving. argh. At least both sides of my body hurt equally, so it was balanced out on the bike. I had some great students for the Sunset clinic too. I had hoped this would take off more then it has, but I know it took it a year in CO to really grow and that was with someone famous teaching it. So far everyone who’s seen the program has loved it, the ones I’ve gotten to do the demos have had a great time and even learned a thing or two. I’d like to make growing that program a priority for next season.
I really like track days that go off without any issues. This was one of them, we had a fair number of new riders and the street school was a good size. I spent morning trying to round up more riders for the new racer school.
Race Day!!!
I was still really hurting from the dirt riding, and driving to and from the track was exhausting. It made the idea of a toy hauler that much more appealing. (More on that one later.) It was hot and humid, not something that we have here very often. I had more of a hard time finding motivation to go out and really race feeling the way I did. That quickly changed as I gridded up for the Thunder bike class! I found myself hitting the first turn right behind Greg. Nothing gets me going like a great launch off the start. I really wanted to hold that spot but fell back after a miss shift in Turn 7, that allowed Mark to get by me on the brakes into turn 1.
I lent Kelcey my bike for Open Super bike and I gridded up for AmU. At least this time he didn’t fall down with my bike. 🙂 I was so sore from the previous week that the only other race I did all the laps for was Formula Femme. I was still having neck issues from the surgery last year. Hanging off the bike to the right and turning my head to the right is painful.
