Ah, time for round #3.

I was feeling pretty darn optimistic when I signed up for races for Sunday.  I signed myself up for 7 races.  Not sure what I was thinking, it’s hot out and I’m still having some issues with my neck.  It wasn’t not one of brighter moves.  Needless to say, I didn’t ride them all, I did make it out there for 5 of them though.  Not too shabby.

For the first time in I don’t know how many years, I made it out for the first practice session.  Things felt so good out there that I didn’t want to do the others.  Which worked out well for Kelcey.  He took my bike out and worked with Mikey Shreve who was finally back on a race bike after something like 4 years.

I think Thunderbike was the highlight of my day, I got a great start, hit the first turn in Second, Mark made it around me going over the bump into turn 2.  I stayed pretty close to him for 2 more laps, even thought at one point I might catch him to try and pass.  That didn’t work out, I got a cramp in my right calf that was just too distracting so I fell back a bit and wasn’t able to make up the distance.  There was about 3 laps where I was thinking that there could be something wrong with the bike.  It kept feeling like it was missing, I also misses a shift twice.  It took me a bit longer than is should have to figure out that the bike was just fine.  That what I was feeling was the rear tire spinning up.  It was kind of freaking me out when it started to happen in turn 6.  That’s a really fast turn with lean…  Even with that I did manage to put enough distance between me and the guy behind me, so that I would be able to take home 3rd for the race.

Kelcey took the bike out for Open Superbike, which should have been one of the 7 I did, but I was okay with that.  It was already hot out and muggy, I needed the break before I went out for AmU.  I ended up with some neck pain in that one so I came off early, once it starts to hurt I can’t keep pushing the limits as it will just get so bad that I can’t function if I do.  Yeah, I of course have had first hand experience with it.

I had a great time in MW superbike, no hole shot this time, but I did manage to hold down 4th for better part of the race before falling back a spot.

In all it was a great day, the ambulance never had to roll and for me that makes it a perfect day.
