Finally, some track time.   It has been forever, okay, it’s really only been 4 months.  Wow, 4 months, that’s a long time!  It’s not like I haven’t been on a bike,  I’ve managed to get a great deal of dirt biking and I’ve already put 1K miles on the Sprint this year.  I’ve missed the track though.    I hadn’t realized how much I missed it until I got to the track.  That first sniff of race gas, ahh, how I love that scent.

So I’ve spent the last few months thinking very hard over what I wanted to do this year.  I even had a plan.  Then, I did my taxes… lets just say it didn’t work out in my favor.  This will be a tight budget year.  There were things I had to purchase for this season, like new leathers and new boots that just drained all my funds.  But, I’m really excited to have them, along with some new armor. (Thank you to Pilot Leathers, MotoNation-Sidi boots, and Impact SafeT armor!)   I won’t have the leather or armor for the first race since we are still ironing out the fit, but I will have them for May.  I just can’t believe the fit differences with having things that are made for you over those you buy off the shelf.

Alright, back to finally getting back on the track….

April 6th was the first SMRI track day for the 2014 Season.  The host for the day was Sandia BMW.  These guys always one the best track days, because of the effort that the dealership puts out there for them.  This year they had Nate Kern, who is a Factory BMW racer/test rider come out for the day to offer up instruction.  What a down to earth helpful guy.  It was great having him there, I heard all kinds of great reviews about the assistance he gave to riders.

I spent the day working with a few of the riders I had worked with before.  I also did a lot of lead follow with 3 of the other female racers to help them get quicker.  In all it was a great day.  I had really missed my track family over the winter.
