I had wanted to ride at AMP since I heard about it. This was bonus, I love listening to Nick teach, which is a good thing since Nick loves to talk. Both Nick and Ken have taught me a great deal in the two YCRS classes I’ve done with them. I still have a ways to go with the trail braking, but it’s so much better then the first time I worked with them.
I spent the day working on my braking past or to the apexes. I find that I’m still braking too much at the start so that when I get to the apex, I’m at a crawl.
Frustrating, so after getting fed up with my self on that one. I figured I would work on scanning and making sure I was looking more up where I needed to for the afternoon. All that focus on the apexes had me fixating on them. Funny, how once I picked up my eyes and my pace how the braking got better.
Yet another thing that I had forgotten about when working on things… when one aspect starts to become frustrating, shift your focus.
By the end of the day, I was having a great time, getting the pace up, but still no where near race pace. I’m okay with that it was supposed to be fun. I’m just sorry that we ended the day with one of the girls falling down. She had come so far in her riding.
